  2. REGA RP1 VS PROJECT DEBUT CARBON PLUS

I'm interested if anyone has listed to these four with the range of cartridges. I've heard great things about the P3, so will try to listen to that as a priority. The X2 with the Moonstone is $1300, and the X1 with a Rainer cartridge is $900. The lack of stylus replacements for the Rega cartridges isn't helpful.

REGA RP1 VS PROJECT DEBUT CARBON UPGRADE

The cost of a P2 with an Exact cartridge upgrade is about $1250. The P3 gets very expensive based on the poor comments I've seen on the Elys cartridge which almost necessitates the $600 Exact cartridge if you want a "matched" set-up with the P3 (as the tone arm might require shims with another cartridge?) This brings the total cost of a P3 to about $1,550. I like the cartridge options on the Pro-ject turntables. It seems like the similar price point comparisons are the X2 vs the P3, and the X1 vs the P2. I'm looking at the same decision on a turntable. With all this time on my hands thanks to coronavirus sheltering, I'm interested in getting back to playing LPs. Quick pic from TTL, of the X2 to the smaller X1. So, is the X2 a worthy contender now from Project? Can it dethrone Rega? Thoughts? Rega has a ton more owners, and aftermarket suppliers, not sure that makes a difference to me. More mass for Project, more rigidity and lighter weight for Rega.

Seems that most owners of the P3 end up spending close to the price of a P6 anyways in upgrades, where the X2 not sure it needs anything (this may not be a plus for some). Better tonearm, better motor redesign and isolation, etc. Here is a good summation of the new X2 from TTL: Pro-Ject X1 / X2 / X-Series Turntable Review + Comparisonīased on the Debut Esprit, but seemingly everything has been upgraded/improved. $1299 with a Sumiko Moonstone, versus the Rega P3 with an Elys for $1,145 or no cartridge for $945. Would be new, preferably from an authorized dealer in my general vicinity (Syracuse or Rochester NY being the closes to me). Nothing too high end though, I'm rediscovering my CD's again lately, but both mediums can coexist in my system. But you know, there's always the upgrade itch. Based on the Debut Esprit, but seemingly everything has been upgraded/improved. Here is a good summation of the new X2 from TTL: Pro-Ject X1 / X2 / X-Series Turntable Review + Comparison. No complaints about my Orbit, it performs quite well especially at its price point. 1299 with a Sumiko Moonstone, versus the Rega P3 with an Elys for 1,145 or no cartridge for 945. Thinking about upgrading myself from a Uturn w/Ortofon 2M Blue to something else, maybe in a year or so. And I follow the Rega group on FB as well. It was suggested that the two TT I had a chance to listen to were from a 'bad batch', I certainly hope so. I found this forum post in a Google search for ProJect vs Rega. I see a lot of posts regarding the Rega P3 and P6 and others, for good reason. A different shop has both the ProJect Debut Carbon and the Rega RP1 for the same price, 480 Can.
